Extended Biography:

Scott Lawrence (born February 18, 1971) is an American music composer. He grew up in the South, having moved around a great deal before landing in Atlanta, Georgia for the first part of his young adulthood. He has since made Seattle, Washington his home for the past fifteen years. His passion for music began at age 5 when he started playing piano. By age 12, he had sketched out several piano solo pieces that would later evolve into full compositions, while other melodies would blossom into orchestrated and cinematic scores. His early life was wrought with instability and constant change, mirrored in his dynamic imagination and musical journey. His song, I Didn’t Want to Leave You, is a great example of this and has been described as “Magical” by London-based film score composer, Oliver von Landsberg-Sadie.
Scott is now busy working on his first studio album. In it, he will exhibit cinematic themes of upheaval, emotionally charged to season the ear with delicate piano melodies and dramatic orchestrations. Surprises always lay ahead as Scott enjoys transforming his mood to establish an eclectic character within his music, naturally leaving his audience with anticipation of the next movement. On a larger scale, he is already working on a second album that will follow an alternative path. In that, he’ll produce electronic and fantasy-like sounds, encompassing heavy beats and rhythms, with abstract, futuristic concepts. His song, Thought Invasion, is a perfect example of what he has in store.
Scott’s background stems from a family of musicians on his father’s side (Larry Rice), yet having been raised by his mother, he discovered his own propensity to play musical instruments. Frustrated with the slow progress of piano lessons, he used his adolescent years to mature his talent, relying mostly on his ability to play by ear. While attending Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, he studied music very briefly because at that time he was pursuing degrees in language and photography. After moving to Seattle, he decided to tackle a more comprehensive scrutiny of music theory, composition, and digital audio recording through an intense, two-year program at Shoreline Community College. This unfolded an intoxicating desire to move forward in his music career.
More recently, Scott has set up a home studio and continues to grow within the recording industry, using software like Digital Performer, Pro Tools, and Logic Pro to produce his unique sound. He’s cultivated a strong discipline to self-teach, originated two music videos, and has worked on several collaborative projects with other musicians. He’s looking forward to an opportunity to score his first film or similar project, and perhaps to perform some of his acoustic-based piano pieces live, with accompaniment.
Excerpts from his debut album have been described as, “Truly evocative“…”Haunting” and “Well produced.”
